All clusters, even groups, have some stars that belong to the cluster as a whole rather than to individual galaxies. We have been determining the properties of a sample of such systems to understand the growth of these systems. We are also exploring the idea that this component leads to significant metal enrichment of the intracluster gas. Finally, as shown in the Figure, we have found that the combination of all the stars, including the ICL, and the X-ray gas accounts for nearly all of the baryons.
